The Sunday School Ministry has a two-fold purpose: salvation and discipleship. Salvation is essential, but once saved we need to learn how to follow Christ and equip ourselves to serve Him. Sunday School ministers to individuals of all ages, through open Bible study groups that focus on the five functions of the church: evangelism, discipleship, ministry, fellowship, and worship which are vital in assimilating new members into the church.
To reach and teach the unsaved—bringing them into the saving knowledge and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior, and disciple the saved for continual growth in faith, love, service, and obedience to Him.
Sunday School Motto
“Reach People…Impact Lives for Jesus”
In Sunday School, the Bible is the textbook and foundation for teaching the Truth—the Good News of Jesus Christ.
In the Preschool, Children and Youth Departments, the focus of teaching varies depending on the age of the child. Ministry leaders recognize the fact that parents are the primary teachers in their children’s lives and the responsibility for religious instruction rests with them. Sunday School teachers develop relationships and partner with families to mentor and assist with the spiritual development of their children.
In the Adult Department, teachers lead and guide participants to Biblical truth by using real life applications of the Bible and assisting them in achieving their spiritual objectives.
Sunday School classes meet every Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. General Assemblies are held once a quarter. At which time, all classes come together in one forum and each ministry shares things that the Lord has done in their lives through the lessons studied.
Everyone who has a desire to learn and a willingness to be transformed spiritually by the power of God’s Word is invited to join us in Sunday School at any time. Foundational teaching, life changing experiences and spiritual transformation are all trademarks of Calvary’s Sunday School Ministry. Time spent in Sunday School is time well invested and will have eternal dividends!
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
